How could patriotic Filipinos follow the #SupportLocal movement if they lack awareness of existing local brands in the market? With international brands enjoying the spotlight of the locals’ word of mouth, is there a platform for these local brands to shine?
Here comes an advertising company which aims to be a credible source with regards to local fashion, specifically shirts —- the Shirt Galerē. It is a student-led start-up from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) that focuses on promoting fashion statements composed of local brands. They encourage people, especially the youth, to support and buy more from local products, citing that it can help small business owners thrive and it can also create opportunities for our locals.
Shirt Galerē intends to be an accessible directory of local brands that suits the personal style of their social media page visitors. Looking at their Facebook page (@shirtgalere), they are on the stage of engaging their audiences to reveal their current style preferences and go-to local clothing brands. Other than that, they also publish trivia about the oldest streetwear in the Philippines which was revealed as the Barong and Baro’t Saya, as well as the benefits of supporting small local businesses.
Does Shirt Galerē’s content match your style? Head on to our STORES tab and look for their stall (Hint: Clothes). Once you find it, you’ll now have a portal towards their social media page where you could find people of the same interest.
